Air Plant Care

Air plants are incredibly easy plants to care for. The most common way air plants are killed is from a lack of water. Air plants generally need to soak in a water bath once a week to maintain optimum hydration levels. The length of time you should soak your plant depends on its size. Be sure not to leave your air plant soaking for too long, or it could develop rot and die. A good rule of thumb for soaking times is as follows:

Small air plants : 5-10 minutes, once a week

Medium air plants: 10-15 minutes, once a week

Large air plants: 20-30 minutes, once a week

Don’t worry if your air plant doesn’t completely submerge, just poke it down a few times and then let it rest where it settles!

With all air plants be sure to shake them dry after you remove them from the water bath. This will remove any water that has pooled up at the base of your plant, which can also cause the plant to rot.
